About the Company
Sari Gol operates in the northeast of Iran, focusing on exploration, extraction, and processing of lead and zinc. The company’s goal is to sustainably supply raw materials for the galvanizing industry of the Mobarakeh Steel Group and to develop zinc ingot production capacity in the region.
History and Position
The exploitation contract for the Sari Gol mine was awarded in May 2023 to a consortium of two Mobarakeh Steel subsidiaries: the Steel Mineral Supply and Processing Holding and Charmahal Automotive Sheet. This investment aims to complete the steel value chain and reduce raw material supply risks.
Mining Area and Reserves
- Exploration area: approximately 72 km² within the Sari Gol Protected Area, Esfarayen County
- Proven reserves (according to mining license): over 500,000 tons
- Preliminary estimate: more than 5 million tons of ore with zinc grade above 20%
Zinc Ingot Production Plan
- Construction of the largest zinc ingot plant in northeast Iran, with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons
- Covering half of Mobarakeh Steel Group’s annual zinc demand (approximately 20,000 tons)
- Construction started in October this year, with a timeline of about 18 months for the first phase
- Engineering and technical consultancy by Mobarakeh Engineering Company, selected through tender
